Remote IP Medical Coder III

Mommy Jobs Online (https://mommyjobsonline.com) is now looking for someone to fill the position of a Remote Medical Coder to work in the U.S. only.

JOB TYPE: Full-time

DESCRIPTION: Code complex cases for all lengths of stays and as needed, audit the work of Level I and Level II Coding Consultants and assign diagnostic and procedural codes to patient records using ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, and ICD-10-PCS codes.

JOB TYPE: Full-time; Flexible schedule

DAILY TASKS:

Review medical records and assigns accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
Assign and sequence codes accurately based on medical record documentation.
Assign the appropriate discharge disposition to medical records.
Abstract and enter the coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements.
Audit the work of Level I & II Coders, if applicable.
Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to appropriate personnel for follow up and resolution.
Maintain a 95% coding accuracy rate and 95% accuracy rate for MS-DRG assignment and maintains site designated productivity standards.
Maintain a minimum production of 1 chart per hour or site-specific productivity standards.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

MUST be a U.S. citizen. High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 3-5/+ years of Inpatient coding experience in an academic, teaching, or trauma facility. A minimum of 1-5 years of coding experience in a hospital and/or coding consulting role.
Associate or Bachelor degree from an AHIMA certified HIM Program, Nursing Program, or completion of a certificate program.
Valid AHIMA CCS coding credential.
Experience in using TruCode and Meditech systems.
Cardiac, orthopedic, and cancer coding experience.
Ability to communicate effectively in the English language.
Experience in computerized encoding and abstracting software.
Required to take and pass annual Introductory HIPAA examination and other assigned testing to be given.
Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Communicate professionally with co-workers, management, and hospital staff regarding clinical and reimbursement issues.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Computer, Internet, and a home office set-up.

PAYMENT: $18.00-$25.00 per hour
